Comparison
An alternative to Salesforce Field Service for utilities
Salesforce Field Service is an enterprise field service suite, priced per user, from $175 a month per technician on an annual contract, and it needs at least one Service Cloud licence. PIEBENCH is narrower: a field operations platform for smart meter rollouts, with users included in a flat monthly fee from $199/month. Which fits depends on scale and what else runs on Salesforce.

About Salesforce Field Service
Salesforce Field Service is the field service product within Salesforce's service platform. Its pricing page lists five options, all priced per user per month in US dollars for Enterprise Edition:
| Licence | Listed price (as of 30 October 2026) |
|---|---|
| Dispatcher | $175 per user per month, billed annually |
| Technician | $175 per user per month, billed annually |
| Contractor Plus | $80 per user per month, or $32 per login |
| Field Service Plus | $230 per user per month, billed annually |
| Agentforce 1 Field Service | $650 per user per month, billed annually |
The same page sets some rules worth reading before you budget. Field Service requires at least one Service Cloud user licence. Technicians and contractors need at least one Dispatcher licence to use the scheduling tool. All per-user products require an annual contract. Unlimited Edition costs more.
For offline work, the Technician licence is described as letting users "view and update work orders, even when offline". The page offers a 30-day free trial of Service Cloud; we didn't find a separate Field Service trial.
About PIEBENCH
PIEBENCH is a field operations platform built for smart meter rollouts and maintenance, for AMISPs, installation agencies and DISCOMs. Crews use Scout, an offline-first Android app. Jobs are assigned as work orders, reviewed in an approval queue, and tracked by crew, team and agency. Ready templates cover meter installation and consumer indexing, and Connectorly sends approved results to HES, MDM and billing systems. Prices are flat per plan, with a set number of users in each plan.

"Not listed" means we didn't find it on Salesforce's pricing page. Salesforce is a large, configurable platform, and many things not on that page can be built on it by an admin or partner.
What the price difference looks like
Take an installation agency with 40 technicians and 2 dispatchers. At Salesforce's listed Enterprise Edition prices, that is 42 licences at $175, or $7,350 a month, billed annually, plus the Service Cloud licence the page says is required. Implementation work by a partner would be extra, and it isn't priced on the page.
On PIEBENCH, the same team fits within the Pro plan, which covers up to 50 users for $499 a month.
That gap is the main reason this page exists. Salesforce is built for companies whose whole customer operation runs on one platform, and its pricing reflects that. An agency installing meters on a contract with fixed rates per meter usually can't carry a per-technician licence of that size.
When Salesforce Field Service is the better choice
Choose Salesforce if your company already runs customer service on Salesforce and wants field work on the same records. It also suits a utility whose field work spans many asset types and services, with dispatch optimisation as a priority, and which has a Salesforce team or partner. And if your crews use iPhones as well as Android, note that Scout runs on Android only.
When PIEBENCH is the better choice
Choose PIEBENCH if your field work is mostly smart meters, if your system of record is SAP IS-U, Oracle CC&B or an HES rather than Salesforce, and if you want to set it up yourselves, without an implementation partner. It also suits contracts where per-technician licence costs would eat into the margin. Start with the free trial, or see pricing.

Questions buyers ask
Is there an affordable alternative to Salesforce Field Service for utilities in India?
Yes. For smart meter work, PIEBENCH is priced as a flat monthly fee with users included, published on the [pricing page](/pricing); Indian customers are billed in rupees with GST included. Salesforce lists Field Service from $175 per technician per month on an annual contract, as of 30 October 2026.
How much does Salesforce Field Service cost?
As of 30 October 2026, Salesforce listed Dispatcher and Technician licences at $175 per user per month, Field Service Plus at $230, and Agentforce 1 Field Service at $650, all billed annually for Enterprise Edition. Contractor Plus was $80 per user or $32 per login. At least one Service Cloud licence is required.
Does Salesforce Field Service work offline?
Salesforce's pricing page says the Technician licence lets users view and update work orders even when offline. PIEBENCH's Scout app is also offline-first: jobs, photos and readings are saved on the phone and sync when the network returns.
Can Salesforce Field Service be used for smart meter installation?
It can be configured for it, as a general field service platform. Smart meter templates, duplicate-serial checks and installation approvals are not listed on its pricing page, so expect an admin or partner to build them. PIEBENCH includes these for meter installation out of the box.
Do I need a Salesforce partner to set up Field Service?
Salesforce does not say a partner is required, but many companies use one or an in-house admin to configure Field Service. PIEBENCH is designed to be set up by operations staff, starting from ready templates and a point-and-click form builder.
Does PIEBENCH integrate with Salesforce?
Connectorly connects to systems with a REST API using Basic, Bearer token or OAuth 2.0, so a Salesforce org with API access can be connected. We have not published a ready-made Salesforce connector, so mapping is set up per project.
